A little about our speaker:

Rev Joshua Pfeiffer is the pastor of the Tarrington Lutheran Parish in Victoria. He studied at Australian Lutheran College for pastoral ministry and then served congregations in Brisbane and Adelaide. In recent years he has been pursuing his PhD in Homiletics (preaching) at Concordia Seminary, St Louis. He hosts the YouTube channel “Kairos: a time to build up.” Joshua is married to Kimberley and together they have four children.
What is the retreat about?
After the success of 2025, the team are back! But this year features two single day retreats during October in anticipation of three full weekend retreats across Australia in May and June 2027.
Drawing from his new book ‘Lift Your Eyes’, Rev Joshua will present three sessions on the theme of ‘She Serves’.
The Bible continually calls us to lift our eyes from ourselves. We lift them first to God who richly blesses us with his grace and mercy in Christ Jesus and so frees us to serve others in love. We lift our eyes to our brothers and sisters in Christ as we serve in Christian community. We lift our eyes to the neighbours God has placed in our lives whom we encounter in daily vocation. This is Christian service as lifting our eyes.
The book can be purchased directly from the Pfeiffer’s, on the registration page, or get it on Kindle here. The book is helpful but not mandatory to participate in the retreat.

Who are the organising team?

Here She Stands is a an online platform where Lutheran women across Australia can come together as a community, sharing their stories and talking about that which is true noble, excellent, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8). Founded by Sonja van Rossen and Lexi Bourne in 2023, the platform continues to grow. Be sure to check out their podcast, blog, shop, and excellent list of resources on their website.

Creative Word Fellowship is an independent Lutheran teaching mission that exists to equip people with the life-giving Word of Jesus Christ. Founded in 2015, CWF has hosted annual teaching conferences, young adults bible study retreats, supported the training of pastors and church workers from new and developing churches overseas, and provides subsidised confessional lutheran books and resources via their bookshop.
Sonja, Lexi and Kim from Here She Stands are joined by CWF member Mel, along with Danielle, Katrina, Kaitlyn and Ann to form the core working group. We’d love to hear from you and look forward to seeing you at the retreat!!!
